The use of textiles plays an important part in all our the crafting projects we do at Colouricious. We have decorated textiles with patterns and designs since the beginning of time and in essence the methods we use today have changed very little from how they were first done.

The Latest Arrivals section of our website is now full of all of our new blocks that have arrived in time for Christmas. There are lots of festive blocks including a snow pattern, a Christmas Tree and some Reindeers. In addition to the blocks we also have some lovely sewing patterns as well which you could use to make some wonderful Christmas gifts.

Colouricious Holidays
Our Colouricious textile holidays and tours have proved to be very successful this year and we are looking to expand the number of holidays we offer for 2015. We have already arranged three trips to Vietnam and we have several other holidays already in place for next year.
In March 2015 you may love to come to West Bengal where we embark on an embroidery tour of the region. You will get to experience the famous Kantha embroidery taking part in a workshop and watching how the local people actually create the wonderfully intricate designs. We fly to Calcutta and then take our private coach to visit neighbouring villages that specialise in embroidery. You will also be taking part in a kantha workshop with some Indian ladies.
If would like to come to India in December 2014 to take part in several block printing workshops, with real Indian printers, there is now only one place left. You will be taking part in 2 block printing workshops, one in a factory in Jaipur and one in a rural village, to compare the contrast. You will also be taking part in a Dabu Printing Workshop – where you will actually print your own fabric using mud (!) and wooden printing blocks. You will then Indigo dye your fabric, which you get to bring home with you. Fabulous fun! For fuller details, see our Block Printing Holiday in Jaipur. Our Next Textile Show
We have just got back from The Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace which was very well attended. Thank you to all of the people who took the time to come and say hello. It was lovely to see you all and to have the chance to show you all the new wooden printing blocks we have just got in stock. I was especially thrilled with those of you who bought along some of their stitching to show me – which had been block printed first, and then stitched – some by hand, some by machine. All absolutely stunning. What a special threat that was for me. Very big thank you!
Our very last textile event of the year is going to be at the most fabulous show Harrogate Knitting & Stitching Show which open 20-23rd November. If you can make it to this show then we would be delighted to see you and give you some more ideas and inspiration for your textile art.
Block Printing Workshops
We have had the most wonderful year teaching block printing workshops to quilting and embroidery groups across the UK, America & Europe. We are now accepting bookings for 2015/2016. If you would like your group to learn how to design their own fabrics for their quilting, embroidery and sewing projects, please do phone us to arrange the date.
